North Pines Church exists so that more would come to know Jesus. Our desire is to be a local church where people can learn about Jesus, grow in community with others, and invite more to do the same. We are centered on Jesus and hold to the truths of the Bible passionately while also greatly valuing the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and church.

Beliefs

Trinity

We believe in one true God, eternally existing as three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who are fully and equally God. Each shares the same divine nature, attributes, and glory, yet remains distinct without division. Together, the triune God exists in perfect unity, and is worthy of all worship, honor, and praise. (Matt. 28:19; Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14)

The Father

We believe in God the Father, the eternal and almighty Creator of heaven and earth. He is sovereign over all things, unchanging through the ages, holy, righteous, and just. He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. He works all things according to His will and for His glory. (Gen. 1:1; Ps. 89:14; 103:19; Isa. 6:3; 46:9-10; Mal. 3:6; Ex. 34:6-7; Rom. 11:36; Eph. 1:11; 1 John 4:8)

The Son

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternally begotten Son of God. He is the image of the invisible God, and all things were created through Him and for Him. In His incarnation, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life, fully God and fully man. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for sin through His death on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven. He has accomplished purification for sins through His atoning work and now intercedes as the mediator between God and humanity. Someday He will return again to reign as King forever. (Heb. 4:15; 5; 10:12; John 1:1-14; Col. 1:15-20; Phil. 2:5-11; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; Matt. 1:18; 24:30; 1 Tim 2:5)

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son. He convicts the world concerning sin, regenerates hearts, indwells every believer, and bears witness to our adoption as sons and daughters. The Holy Spirit is our Helper and Counselor, sanctifying believers, comforting, and leading His people into truth and a deeper understanding of God’s Word. He also imparts spiritual gifts and empowers us for service to advance the Kingdom of God. (John 14:16-17; 15:26; 16:7-14; Matt. 28:19; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 2:10-14; 12:4-11; Eph. 1:13-14; Rom. 8:9, 15-16, 2 Tim. 1:7)

Scripture

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is wholly sufficient and necessary for knowing God, His plan of redemption, and for living a life of faith and obedience. Scripture alone is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice, to be believed in all it teaches, obeyed in all it requires, and trusted in all it promises. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; John 14:15; 20:31; Matt. 24:35; Ps. 19:7-11; Prov. 30:5; 2 Cor. 1:20)

Humanity

We believe God created humanity, male and female, in His image. As the pinnacle of creation, God intended for us to reflect His glory and find joy in relationship with Him. However, through Adam’s sin, humanity fell into corruption, inheriting a sinful nature and coming under God’s just condemnation. As a result, all have not only inherited sin but have also personally rebelled against God through their own sinful thoughts, words, and actions. Sin now corrupts every aspect of human nature, leaving all people enslaved to it and unable to save themselves. However, because of God’s great love for humanity, He offers forgiveness and reconciliation through Jesus Christ. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:10-12, 23; 5:12-21; John 3:16; 8:34; Eph. 2:1-3; 2 Cor. 5:18-19)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Because all have sinned and are spiritually dead, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born again. However, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, He has provided atonement for sin, reconciliation with God, and the gift of eternal life. He saves us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. All who repent and believe in Him are justified, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, adopted into God’s family, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and awaiting future glorification. (Eph. 1:13-14; 2:1-10; Rom. 3:23-24; 5:1-2, 10; 6:6; John 1:12, 3:3-16; Col. 1:21-22; Isa. 61:10; Titus 3:5; 5:17)

The Church

We believe in the universal Church, made up of all true believers throughout history, whom God has called and redeemed through the gospel. The local church is an individual expression of this body, where believers gather for worship, the teaching of God’s Word, prayer, fellowship, and the observance of the ordinances. The church is the household of God, a pillar and buttress of the truth, a dwelling place for God by His Spirit, the body of Christ, and the bride of Christ. The Church exists to glorify God and fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples in its community and throughout the world. Christ, as the head of the Church, has given leaders to equip and shepherd His people. All believers have been given gifts to serve the body and glorify God. Though imperfect, the Church is sustained by Christ and will, by His grace, be brought to full maturity—one day presented to Him as His bride, purified and made whole at the marriage supper of the Lamb, where we will dwell with Him in perfect joy forever. (Eph. 1:22-23; 2:19, 22; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Tim. 3:15; 1 Pet. 2:9; Matt. 28:19-20; Rev. 19:6-8)

Ordinances

We believe that Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for His Church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward transformation, symbolizing a believer’s union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. It is intended for those who have received the saving benefits of Christ through faith, and thus, follows conversion. Baptism is to be administered by full immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism does not save but serves as a public declaration of faith, signifying the believer’s new life in Christ and entrance into the body of Christ. (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37-38; 10:44-48; Rom. 6:3-4; 1 Cor. 12:12-13; Gal. 3:27; Col. 2:12-13)

The Lord’s Supper is an ongoing observance in which believers partake of the bread and the cup as symbols of Christ’s body, which was broken for us, and His blood, which was shed for our salvation. As we remember His sacrifice and examine ourselves, we proclaim His death until He returns and affirm our unity as members of Christ’s body. (Luke 22:19-20; Matt. 26:26-28; 1 Cor. 10:16-17; 11:23-29)

Last Things

We believe in the personal, physical, and glorious return of Jesus Christ. At the appointed time, the dead will rise—the righteous to eternal life and the unrighteous to eternal judgment. Satan, his hosts, and all who reject Christ will be eternally separated from God, while believers, in glorified bodies, will dwell in His presence, worshiping and reigning with Him forever. Christ will renew all creation, bringing the fulfillment of His kingdom in the new heaven and the new earth. Sin and death will be no more, and the dwelling place of God will be with man forever. (Acts 1:11; 1 Thes. 4:16-17; Matt. 25:31-46; Rev. 21:1-4)
